1. Be sure to watch your water intake level, acidic or sour foods, and foods that can cause your skin to lose its elasticity, such as porridge, milk, vinegar, etc.
2. Too much sodium intake can also slow down your body's metabolism, and restrict your body's discharge from being fully expelled. Adding salt to your food, besides making it taste more flavorful, will always make you more thirsty for water, which, as mentioned before can not so ideal for post partum recovery.
3. Refrain from overly oily foods. Food during postpartum care should be light, fresh and non-greasy (these may slow down your body's metabolism)
4. Stay away from ¡§cold¡¨, raw, uncooked foods, and overly stimulating flavors such as spices, hot peppers, etc.
5. Keep away from fried, baked or broiled foods that may cause you to be thirsty and may lead to constipation.

Four key points of successful breast feeding
Many mothers let breastfeeding affect their post delivery care period, or automatically switch to powder milk once they feel their breast milk volume is insufficient. However, most of the time, incorrect information or concepts can deter a mother from breast feeding successfully. Here are some points to keep in mind.
1. Start breastfeeding as early as 1 hour after giving birth, this is when a baby's suckling reflex is strongest and can stimulate breast milk production.
2. Let your baby suckle often, even if for the first two days, you may not have signs of milk production, this is completely normal. Remember that your baby is learning how to suckle as well, and for the first 48 hours she is not hungry yet, so don¡¦t give yourself too much pressure to lactate the first day after delivery. Also, try not to let the baby drink anything else besides breast milk. Why? First of all, because he does not need anything else for food besides breast milk and your body will produce as much milk as necessary for the baby.
3. Try to refrain from letting your baby drink powder milk from the bottle, this may cause the baby to be confused and decrease attraction to the taste your breast milk and nipple shape.
4. Concentrate while breast feeding. This is a crucial time for bonding and attachment to take place between infant and mother, let your baby feel and know that you are focused on him. Your serenity and love will be transmitted to your baby and help with your own breast milk production and quality.

Tips on Breastfeeding
1. When breastfeeding, try having the baby lay sideways with his stomach facing the mother, chin close to the mother's breasts so that the baby doesn¡¦t have to turn its head or use much effort to suckle.
2. When starting to breastfeed, the baby's mouth should be wide open so that he can complete cover the mothers darker area of the breast (not just the nipple). Also, try to have the baby's tongue stick out so that it can be under the mother's breast while feeding, this is to facilitate suckling and so the mother's nipple will not be hurt.
3. After breastfeeding, if the mother feels that her breasts still feel engorged, she should squeeze out the breast milk with her hands. This is to prevent the blockage of breast milk production.
4. When the mother's breast feel engorged or painful, try to use a cold towel (not icy or hot), to temporarily hold ease milk production. Another tip is to squeeze out a little bit of milk (to soften the nipple first) before breastfeeding, this can also prevent painful breast engorgement.
5. Breastfeeding should begin on the first day after delivery. Though it is perfectly normal not to have breast milk for the first two days, the mother can begin preparation work with a breast massage called the ¡yComb Massage¡z. First lightly lift up the breast and by using a flat wooden comb (using the side with teeth), lightly stroke in the direction of the nipple, do not comb in the opposite direction. Try doing this for 10-15 minutes a day, this gentle exercise can help circulation, reduce pain and engorgement symptoms and most importantly can help with the breastfeeding success.
Milk Enducing Foods
There are several foods new mothers can try to help enduce breastmilk:
1. Peanuts and Pig Leg Stew: Can directly help with milk production.
2. Large Soybean and Pig Stomach Stew: For mothers who have difficulty lactating.
3. Cow Tongue and Tofu Stir- Fry: Suitable for breastfeeding mothers and are overweight.
4. Carp Fish soup: Suitable for breastfeeding mothers who are underweight.

Caesarian Births are considered to be more ¡§harmful¡¨ to the body, and traditionally, their recovery period is 40 days instead of 30 with Natural Births, thus special Chinese medicine broths are used to help with recovery. Also, drinks such as Traditional Post partum drinks are taken for 7 days for natural births and 14 days for Caesarian Births. Furthermore, W Group recommends that due to the level of anesthesia that Caesarian Birth mothers must undergo pre operation, they should drink an extra week of Red Date Tea to help the body rid of artificial elements in the body.

Understanding Post Partum depression
There is an old Chinese saying, ¡§a new mother's tear is worth ten thousand gold pieces¡¨, in other words crying during the post partum recovery period is considered very detrimental to the body. However, post partum depression, a recognized medical symptom, understandably occurs to all new mothers to different degrees of severity. The 10 month process from pregnancy to delivery up to being a new mother with an infant so reliant on your love and attention can be a tremendous pressure and source of anxiety for a new mother. Furthermore, the drastic difference in hormone levels that occur after birth can cause unpleasant symptoms such as headaches, difficulty to sleep, hair loss, etc. At this time, support of the husband, parents and in-laws and friends can be crucial to the smooth transition in the emotional changes that a new mother undergoes.
Correct Post Partum Care, the best medicine against Post partum depression

A complete family support network can be said to be the most important resource for letting a new mother make a smooth transition to motherhood during this post partum period. However, when a mother's post partum care period is viewed as an entire family affair, with different family members occupying different roles, helping out with taking care of the baby, household chores, a new mother can truly successfully get the ample amount of rest to recover. As a mother is recuperating, she should try to be as relaxed and as peaceful as possible, listening to relaxing music, have family members prepare freshly cut flowers at her bedside, letting her speak her mind and not trying to please everyone around her, and most importantly- get enough rest!

Did you know that using rice wine during post partum period can let you relax easier? This may be a reason why there are less cases of post partum depression in the East than in the West.
